But your board needn't meet the same end as our ancient allies. In winter it's all too tempting to sacrifice an old pair of trainers and some crusty bearings to the skate gods, but that board you're riding?
It's probably made of maple, and there are a few things you can do to keep it ship-shape and feeling fresh - even as winter turns to spring, summer and beyond:

Gotta love winter in the British Isles. Good job I keep a spare pair of pants and socks at the office. You never know.
