Bristol's gone mad...

To level with you here

I'm still somewhat reluctant to truly embrace the surfskate.

But Bristol - home of Lush Longboards, harbour of longboard girls, haven of hardy down-hillers - has fallen deeply under the spell!

Just look at what's going on:

My reluctance stems from something I read in Carve surfing magazine around 20 years ago:

On the flat days, ride a board: it doesn't matter if you're practising your ollies in the park, or carving it up on a longboard - it all feeds your surfing.

And so in that sense a surfskate will, too. But the silver bullet to finally crack radical backside hacks? Spare me.

You really want to shred? Make it your whole life and lets speak again in 5, 10, 15 years time. The bullet ain't silver, it's made of grit:

But, the other day I did put my misgivings to the side and take one up to St Georges skatepark.

I had a silly good time.

And that's pretty much all I've ever wanted from a skateboard.

So here we are, embracing the silly.

Check this thing out - as requested:

The Loaded Omakase Surfskate: with 80mm wheels as stock!

If that isn't silly and amazing (and isn't that Loaded Longboards in a nutshell) then I don't know what is.

Stoked to make it happen for ya.

Now let's grab the closest board to us, embrace the grit and the good times and I'll see you back here next week with fresh aches and a renewed smile.

Don't forget to wash your special skate underpants,
Matt @ Vandem

An all round big boy as far as surfskates go. But getting away with 80mm wheels on one certainly opens up new dimensions of pump. So pitted.
