Longboard Scene and Events -

How far could you skate in 24 hours?

A smooth open road before you...

No traffic, no steep hills.

Friends around you, and a pocket full of great snacks.

How far do you think you could skate in 24 hours?

Find out this summer - registration for the UK Ultraskate has just opened...

...and I highly recommend giving it a go!

What to expect

It's just like a normal day, but without all the daily stresses on your life. Your only mission is to ride your board! Luxury.

But in seriousness, it's an endurance event that you can take as you wish.

There'll be everyone there from first-timers hoping to complete their first marathon or raise money for charity, to the honed precision setups of the ultra humans hoping to travel 200, 250 or even 300 miles.

The current world record is 313.9 miles... make of that what you will!

You'll need:

  • A board (preferably low and with big wheels!)
  • A helmet
  • Snacks
  • Friends
  • A level of stubbornness usually attributed only to mules
  • A sense of humour
  • A tent. Or at least I needed one when I realised, 160 miles in, that I actually wasn't as tough as I thought I was 😀

The event is running on the 29th-30th July in Betteshanger Park, Kent.

Sign-ups are moving fast and available here.

In fact, if you're interested, we have a discount code available to Vandem customers that will knock 30% off your entry fee. Let me know if you need it!

These events don't happen every year - the last being in 2010 - and if I look back on some of the more ludicrous decisions of my life, this one has a spot up there with the best of them.

A fantastic experience - one where you can enter spaces of your mind you didn't know existed, all the while learning, bonding, laughing, crying, and ultimately enjoying the simplest form of skateboarding.

If that's not worth booking a weekend out for, then I don't know what is.

I hope to see you there,
Matt @ Vandem

Are you free this weekend and based near London?
The Docks Games 3 is happening - a fun day of dance and freestyle shenanigans, free to enter, open to all!

In other awesome session news, we're meeting every week here in Bristol to have a good ol' skate and a chinwag.
Are you sessioning your local area? Let us know and we'll give you a shout out!
