Carver 29" Triton Astral CX Surfskate
This is the Carver Triton 29" Astral CX - as with the rest of this series, that's quite a few words so we're going to break it down for you. Strap in for the ride.
Triton - Triton is a series of four boards heavily influenced by surfboard design, from 29" to 32", leading us nicely onto the next part...
29" - total length for this board. The shortest in the Triton series, and about as short as you'll find a surfskate in general. That means it'll turn like crazy, and trust me when I say we've tried to get the most out of it around the shop!
An absolute winner for smaller feet and smaller riders in general, a compact shape that does everything it needs to and nothing it doesn't. If you're thinking you'll be going pretty fast on your surfskate, perhaps a longer one would be more suited to you. However for tight turns and cruising up to jogging speed, this one is just the ticket.
Astral - The name of the graphic for this board. Surfboard-like, to say the least. White dipped, tailpad griptape design, and a nice resin tint style overlay colourway underneath. Juicy.
CX - This board features the Carver CX truck up front. Marketed as a hybrid truck that's able to both surfskate and skateskate. With less moving parts than the C7, it's easier to maintain (ie, you don't have to) and can take a bit more of a beating. If you're looking to take your surfskate into the skatepark and slash some copings, we definitely recommend this truck. It's sketchy as anything in fakie, but it is possible... can't say the same for the C7!
Proper griptape on this one which we do appreciate - you want your feet to hold on tight whilst you rip into turns. Otherwise, we can recommend reading our Carver C7 vs CX vs Landyachtz surfskate truck review if you're not 100% sure which one you might want.
The Triton Astral is a great way to step into the world of surfskating without breaking the bank. You get the proper stuff and a great looking setup and still have cash left over for:
a) pads and a helmet
b) a tasty dinner with someone special
c) fuel to get to the beach and actually going surfing..!

I bought my first board from these folks, at 46 years old nearly a year ago.
The service was first class. I found other places to be a tad patronising truth be told, maybe because of my age, maybe because of my ability or both.
Not here. They made me feel super...
