Landyachtz Ripper Watercolour Pintail Longboard

The Landyachtz Ripper is the bigger brother of the Dipper - a surfy pintail with some comfy flex, nice rocker and with a kicktail thrown in for good measure.

At 37" it's an inch longer than the Dipper but still fairly compact for a pintail - shorter than the Lush Mako, bigger than the Arbor Fish.

The pintail shape can suffer when made smaller due to being so narrow under the back foot. Not this one! Similar to the Lush Minnow, it's widened up and doesn't taper too much and has a sawn-off tail.

This Ripper is the Watercolour graphic from the in-house artists at Landyachtz. Chilled out - just like you when you're cruising along with your feet planted on it.

This board features TKP trucks - street trucks, like you'd find on a regular popsicle. This gives it a much more dippy divey feeling that reacts super well at lower speeds. If you've got your eye on some big hills, however, we'd recommend looking for some RKP (longboard) trucks to offer more stability as the speed picks up.

The Fatty Hawgs are some of my favourite from the Hawgs lineup and give the board a nice plush feeling whilst rolling - whilst being stoneground and with rounded lips so if you want to push a bit harder in your carves, you might just get it sliding out - and it'll feel great.

Landyachtz claim that the Ripper might be the most fun board they've ever made. Bold - and I immediately think of a list of extras I'd want on a board for it to be the most fun I've ever ridden. But then, perhaps I'm forgetting that cruising along with the wind in your hair is simply one of the best feelings in the world - and this board is absolutely set up to remind you of that. Enjoy the ride.

Some other things to consider...

  • If in doubt - go softer! Turnier boards are easier to balance on, and a lot more fun to skate.
  • If you are "between hardnesses," we would recommend the softer option. So for example, for a 73kg rider, "Soft" rather than "Stock Setup" might be a better choice. Get in touch if you're not sure!
  • if you want a very turny board - say for a dancing longboard - then it's worth going one stop softer than you otherwise would do. Watch out for wheelbite though!
  • Likewise, if you want a board for downhill speed, then go up a step harder than the weight table suggests.
  • You do have a bit of adjustment in the truck's kingpin nut, but we would suggest that if you have more than two threads showing then it's time to go to a harder bushing.
  • If you already have a board (or some trucks!) and you would like to change your bushings to suit your weight, check out our truck/bushing compatability chart!
