Pantheon Trip Drop-through Longboard
Jeff at Pantheon Longboards has been the mastermind behind many a successful distance longboarding deck and the Trip could be seen as the culmination of all his experience riding, racing and designing. A versatile and easy-to-ride longboard for distance, fitness, and freeride skating, the Trip is perfect for high-level athletes and casual riders alike.
The shape: The outline of the Trip has been thought-out to the nth degree. The slight taper to the centre of the board works together with the slight camber to create a comfortable dampening/suspension effect. Stiff enough that you don't lose speed or control pushing along, but flexy enough to soak up all the little cracks and bumps along the road that you'd really rather not be experiencing. Awesome.
The mould: Starting with the biggest, most noticeable feature - the drops! Pantheon developed the crescent drop, which instead of being a straight line across the board is bordering on a semi-circle. In the centre of the board the drop is closer to your foot, and it recedes back towards the shoulders of the deck. This shape makes it stiffer and stronger, as well as offering your foot a more precise marker for exactly where it is on the board. All regular advantages of drop-down decks still apply - a lower centre of gravity for stability, easier pushing and braking and super forgiving initiation of slides.
Concave-wise, it's a gentle radial concave. It's not trying to be something it isn't - for a board designed for distance you don't want too many features under foot. However when paired with the "moustache rocker" (rocker at the front and back of the board, and a light camber in the centre) you'll really feel locked in for pushing regular and mongo as well as always being right in the pocket for deep carves and slides.
The construction: A step up from your regular maple board, the Trip features 6 plies of maple sandwiched between fibreglass, with thin veneer topsheets. This one has applewood on the bottom which looks as juicy as it sounds. It's a lightweight board that's surprisingly stiff, a pushing machine that will eat up all the miles you can throw at it.
The graphics: What can we say, they're pretty Pantheon. Designed by Eddie Kihm alongside Jeff Vyain of Pantheon. Apparently it's to remind us that although from our vantage point we may see the stems and stalks, our higher consciousness can see the flowers and our connection to everyone around us. If you push this thing for enough miles, I reckon you'll start to believe it, too.
The complete: We build these up with 180mm Sabre trucks and Cult Wheels. Years of skating different combinations of decks, trucks and
rock n roll wheels has led us to this setup, and we believe it offers the best quality and usability for the best value out there.
If you skate one of these from John O'Groats to Land's End (or vice versa, with the favourable prevailing winds) in less than 3 weeks, please let us know and Matt will buy you a beer.
Is the Elite setup worth the extra £15?
For only an extra £15, you can upgrade the "Pro" setup to the "Elite" Level build.
The Elite setup is a pretty heavy wheel and bearing upgrade over the Pro.
You get Sabre Built-In Labyrinth Bearings - fully shielded, easy to clean, with built in bearing spacers. They roll faster and last longer than the Pro level metal shielded ABEC5 bearings.
The Elite complete also includes Cult Cultron 74mm Longboard Wheels White, poured from a higher grade urethane. Premium urethane rolls fater, lasts longer, and generally injects a whole new level of life into the board - once you've skated decent wheels, you won't want anything else!
Less obvious is the wheel upgrade. Your extra £15 gets you a set of Cult Cultron over the Pro build's Cult Emperor. Apart from the obvious size difference, the Cult Cultron are poured from a higher grade of urethane - an invisible difference that you will immediately notice as soon as you push the board off.
Just like the bearings, the wheel upgrade makes your board roll faster and last longer - what's not to like??
If you look at the SRP difference of these components and add them together you'll see that the upgrade from Pro to Elite represents serious value - trust us, it's well worth it.
Coupled with this, we've noticed that almost everyone who makes it into our shop ends up with an Elite setup - the value is clear once you have the board in your hands!
How about the Precision build?
If you're ready to skate the best setup out there the best of the best, step it up to the Precison Build!
For an extra £70, you get the same wheels and bearings as the Elite build, but with a set of Sabre Forged Precision Mk3s.
Given that a set of these trucks would normally set you back £180, that's a serious value for a serious setup!

Useful Extra Info
Customise your ride!
We can change the truck bushings on this board to suit your weight and riding style!
This way your board will come set up perfectly for you, straight out of the box.
Just refer to the table below and make your choice as you add to cart!
|Rider weight||Bushing Hardness|
|10 - 50kgs||Extra Soft|
|50 - 72kgs||Softer|
|72 - 90kgs||Stock Setup|
|90 - 104kgs||Harder|
|104 - 120kgs||Extra Hard|
Some other things to consider...
- If in doubt - go softer! Turnier boards are easier to balance on, and a lot more fun to skate.
- If you are "between hardnesses," we would recommend the softer option. So for example, for a 73kg rider, "Soft" rather than "Stock Setup" might be a better choice. Get in touch if you're not sure!
- if you want a very turny board - say for a dancing longboard - then it's worth going one stop softer than you otherwise would do. Watch out for wheelbite though!
- Likewise, if you want a board for downhill speed, then go up a step harder than the weight table suggests.
- You do have a bit of adjustment in the truck's kingpin nut, but we would suggest that if you have more than two threads showing then it's time to go to a harder bushing.
Pantheon Trip Drop-through Longboard Reviews
Yes, Yes and Yes!!!
Awesome board! Awesome service! Delivered swiftly! I love my new board and highly recommend Vandem, 5 stars aaaaaallll the way
Perfect for long distance pushing
Absolutely recommend this board. The low deck height and big wheels make for really comfortable pushing, I can skate waaaay further on this setup without getting tired. The Cultron wheels are a game changer, LOVE them. So fast, so smooth. This complete rides really quietly, comfortably, feels nimble and is fast. The grip is cool too, there's a pattern in it.
Super happy customer
Great experience purchasing form Vandem, I needed advice on which longboard to buy, the guys are very helpful and gave totally un-biased help and advice, last minute decision and I wanted to switch out the trucks supplied for an upgrade, no problems and even though already wrapped for shipping the guys swapped em out super quick and I still had the board turn up next day, when it arrived I was stoked I took their advice on board choice, what an awesome longboard, super plush ride and rolls over anything, ended up riding it at work on a nightshift (don’t tell management ). Thanks for the help guys would recommend Vandem for sure and already have to friends. Cheers Si

I bought my first board from these folks, at 46 years old nearly a year ago.
The service was first class. I found other places to be a tad patronising truth be told, maybe because of my age, maybe because of my ability or both.
Not here. They made me feel super...
