New year, new skateboard

Can I skate in the wet?

It's the UK and it's January - it's a natural question.

And the reality is: If you don't skate in the wet, you don't skate.

So channel your inner Pete (above) and yes, it's possible.

However, moving beyond the obvious potential bodily harm - it's slippy out there! - there are a few things you can do to take care of your new board to have it last as long as possible:

This majestic being is Adam.

I recently told someone that he's no longer with us, so I'd like to take this opportunity to reassure our longer-term readership that Adam is alive and well!

For anyone missing him as much as we do, there are occasional glimpses of him in his new position at Down the Line surfshop:

For anyone missing him and worrying about their bearings over winter, watch the video below for your fix:

And is it actually important to clean them?

I'd be lying if I told you I've done this more than twice in the last twenty years.

However, more than twice I've had bearings explode whilst riding down a hill...

I'm not exactly sure how the stats work out on that, but its fair to say that a bit of a clean once or twice a year probably doesn't go amiss.

Stay warm out there,
