Anti Hero, New Skate Product, Santa Cruz -

Kids love popsicles...

Such a thing as too much choice?

We've just added Anti Hero completes to our selection of kids skateboards.

These are absolutely the core offering for kids who want to skate.

Really skate.

Perhaps like old times - days spent building makeshift ramps behind dodgy industrial estates.

Perhaps like new times - I'd have loved to have had skateboarding as a PE lesson.

But when Anti Hero are offering Mini, Small, Medium and Large...

And Santa Cruz are right there with Super Micro, Micro, Mini, Mid, Full and Large, what hope do you have of choosing the right one?

Find solace in the fact that getting it not-quite-right is not the end of the world.

Sizes and recommended age ranges are listed on the website. However, knowing what the kids want to do should guide your decision.

Skateparks + tricks

Anti Hero are the core brand in this space and their boards reflect that.

They all come with small (53mm) hard wheels will be more fun and easy to ride in a skatepark than anything softer that tries to compromise.

A full maple construction (like dads board) means that they'll last well into the first kickflips and beyond.

We see a lot of these out and about in Bristol.

Tricks + cruising

Tricks are on the cards, but perhaps the skatepark is a bit further away and they'll be riding more on asphalt pavements and roads?

Santa Cruz have got your back with slightly softer wheels - much more enjoyable and easy to ride everywhere that isn't the skatepark, whilst still having proper popsicle shape and functionality.

We see a lot of these out and about in Bristol, too.

Simply cruising

If dropping in and doing tricks is off the cards, there's no need to bother with a full street shape - or the small wheels that come along with them.

A cruiser has bigger, softer wheels, more foot space, more stability and trucks that are nice and easy to turn.

It's the easiest and most accessible way to learn the basics.

Mind you, I can't promise that they won't want to get down the skatepark once they've got the hang of it.

Jack started with a cruiser, picked it up (frustratingly?) quickly and can now be found in the local miniramp anytime his dad will take him there...

So remember: whether its strawberry, blueberry or coca-cola flavoured, its still a popsicle, and they'll still be stoked on it.

And we are the proverbial ice cream van.

Now to batten down the hatches,
Matt @ Vandem

I suppose the other choice you have is the graphic - do they prefer an eagle?

...or a screaming hand?
