We'll get to the skatepark...
But first, pure skateboarding.
"I feel that [Santa Cruz] are trying to get rid of all older skaters now..." - Steve Alba, age 26, 1989.
Today, Santa Cruz have reissued one of his sickest graphics of all time, the Salba Tiger.
Like many of his graphics, it was based off of his own drawings or off his tattoos:
"...I wanted a tattoo of a leopard. The guy who was doing the tattoo wanted to do a tiger because he had just drawn up a tiger. I really wanted a leopard but I ended up with the tiger—at least it’s a cat. I wanted a cat on my arm because I always want to land on my feet."
And at over 60 years old and Santa Cruz firmly backing him... it looks like he really did land on his feet.
And whilst this is one of our favourites, it is far from the only reissue that has landed on our shelves this week.
The Santa Cruz collection is bursting at the seams right now.
That comes along with a restock of skateboard wheels.
87A OJ Keyframes in 52-58mm for those looking for a cruisey wheel, a filmer wheel, something to add some grinds to the daily grind.
101A Cult Zeroes in 60mm for a pure, hard, fast transition wheel that looks epic, and rides epicer.
Help shape a skatepark
Whether you're ripping it on your new old school reissue, a surfskate, a BMX or your Heelies, here is your chance to have your say on how one of our local skateparks gets rebuilt!
Head to the consultation here to let Yate Council know what you'd like to see featured in the refurb.
Not every council goes this far and too many towns end up with horrid pieces of metal plonked in the middle of a field, so we urge you to have your say. Especially if you're saying they should build a bowl. Please.
There's even a box to show them your favourite park - we're stoked to see a local council go this far in asking the community what they want.
See you out there,
Matt @ Vandem
What? A Roskopp, without a face? Yeah!
The Roskopp III, never before reissued.
They said they'll let Rob know when he gets back from his bike ride.
