Of course it's back.
Of all UK longboard events, it's:
- The longest running (since 2007!)
- The most inclusive (ages 7 - 67 last year!)
- The most widely attended (known to attract 200+!)
That's not to mention the tens of thousands of pounds raised for charity, and the fairly legit chances of winning big in the raffle.
If you only make one event this year, make sure its the Bristol Board Meeting.
FAQ:
- I'm a beginner, can I come?
- Absolutely. Its flat and mostly super smooth - the perfect way to get acquainted with your new board.
- Can I ride my surfskate?
- Of course. Every type of board is welcome. We even had some electric boards last year which were appreciated by those brave enough to grab on for a ride.
- What if it rains?
- Well, you could use it as a way to drum up further sponsorship monies I suppose. We'll be skating, whatever the weather.
- Do I have to wear a sequin onesie?
- Yes (not really).
- What other events are happening?
- I'm glad you asked!
Last weekend BVR was a huge success with people all over the hill, from fresh young faces to grizzled old downhillers. Even Rich busted out a few runs, carving hard on the Samba!
Thanks to Ross at Skatography for the snap - see if you can spot yourself in the Bristol Slide Day album here!
Tomorrow (17th) we are headed to the longboard and surfskate festival in Bristol, armed with lots of spare parts ready to run the longboard maintenance stand.
Beyond that there are miniramp sessions, community cruises, world championship downhill races... keep up to date with our UK events calendar here.
Now to pack up the last of these bits and get sorted for tomorrow.
Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts!
