Rebirth, Unsolicited Advice -

An Instant Speed Wobble Solution?

Yes and no.

Rebirth trucks are split angle (and more!) which adds a whole lot of stability to any longboard.

But the dreaded speed-wobbles should not be tackled purely by upgrading equipment!

They are vastly in your mind and can impact even the most experienced of downhill skaters...

If you're looking to take things a little faster (it doesn't have to be 70mph like our friend James here) then there are a few things that will really help you on your journey:

  • Never ride faster than you can comfortably brake!
  • A solid footbrake is imperative if you're riding in public - whether it's through town or down hills, it is often the only braking technique that'll fit through the gap
  • Being able to slide in both directions can not only get you out of a tight spot but opens up epic new lines, flow and style
  • Pad up
  • Find traffic-free spots to get comfortable

This may be a bad advice for sales, but all of the above can all be done on whichever trucks came on your board.

But whereas twenty years ago you could turn up to a world championship race on that board and not look out of place... times have changed.

The jump in capability is undeniable, but there isn't a setup in that final that comes in at less than £1,000 - especially once you factor in the volume of wheels it took to get through the event.

In many ways it seems a shame - the accessibility that allowed us to turn up and compete has been lost.

That's where Rebirth Trucks come in.

Narrow hanger widths, heavily split angles, high rake, an inline rear hanger and queenpin support for the same price as pretty much any other cast truck out there.

We do recommend grabbing the Precision Kit to go with them to tighten the whole system up a little - they aren't Rogue trucks!

Equally, if you're already regularly going 40mph+ with your mates and hitting events in Europe every summer, you may have already outgrown the cast version.

But there is absolutely a big sweet spot for which they're perfect.

A massive advantage in stability and traction, the ability to get granular and play with your bushing setup to get them working for you, and a low price point means that they've quickly become the accepted option for anyone wanting to dabble in downhill.

But still, please don't skate faster than you can brake!

Stay in one piece and I'll see you on the hill,
Matt @ Vandem

The new batch doesn't come with the red bushing anymore - but includes:
- 2x Purple 85A
- 2x Green/Blue 90A
- 2x Pink 95A
For further tailoring you'll need the Venom Tall Bushings from our site.
