The Seismic Encore... some of the best designed wheels out there around the 65mm diameter range - with the focus on dancing and freestyle but with a healthy side-helping of being an awesome freeride wheel too!
Classic Seismic here - well thought out product resulting in something that rides super well and lasts a long time. We like that buy quality, buy once situation here at Vandem and if you're looking to upgrade a stock dance/freestyle wheel, you can't go wrong with the Encore.
They're lightweight thanks to the big core, fast rolling, have nice rounded lips for smooth slide initiation and a stoneground finish for instant break-in.
The core
The Encore features a trimmed version of the EC (Energy Conversion) core, originally designed for the record-breaking 85mm Seismic Speed Vent.
It's therefore a big core for a small wheel... whats so good about that?
With dancing, freestyle and freeride in mind, it:
- Reduces overall weight - great for flippity-dippities
- Weight is around the edge of the wheel - keeps them rolling
- Supports the urethane - keeps them rounder and sliding smoother
If pushed to find a disadvantage, it'd be that skating over rougher terrain will be felt in the feet a bit more than a wheel of the same diameter with no core. It's a performance wheel, you can't have everything!
We see big cores in smaller performance wheels elsewhere such as in the Cult Invader - the logic is sound and the wheels are noticeably faster and smoother to slide compared to similar sized wheels with no core.
The urethane
These feature the super-fast Seismic DEFCON urethane, and are available in 3 durometers:
- 75a - bubblegum pink
- 77a - mango
- 79a - mint
If you're not fussy and just want a sweet upgrade - pick your favourite colour and you'll love them!
If you're skating these across town to your skate spot, you might want to go for the softer options for a more plush ride.
If you're only skating them at your spot...
- If its super smooth choose the hardest (79a)
- If its a mixed bag, go medium (77a)
- If its a bit of classic UK crust, the softest (75a) will be most friendly
The Seismic Encore sits in its rightful place at the top of the foodchain when it comes to aftermarket dance/freestyle wheels. Yum.
All wheels sold in packs of four.
