There's a new king (or queen) of longboard wheels and it makes the rest of them look teeny tiny!! The Orangatang Dad Bod is a behemoth of a wheel at 105mm in diameter, designed really for electric skateboards but marketed oh so well for cruising, too. Don't forget your risers!
What to say about a beast like this? It's not for the skatepark. Or for sliding, or downhill. This one is all about pure rolling, baby. If you've got strong legs and like pushing, I dare you to chuck them under your commuter... they'll take longer to get up to speed than a smaller wheel but once they're there, they're not slowing down again!!
Really though, this one's designed for the e-boarders out there. The core works with multiple different kits and when you've got a motor, you don't need to worry about the pushing height! They'll roll over anything and everything in your path and generally be a lot more fun than something smaller - those rough patches come at you fast when you've got your finger on the gas!
Orangatang built this wheel up from the ground over a four year period, with a biiiig core to support the sheer amount of urethane - one of these weighs as much as 4 small longboard wheels!
It's an offset wheel but can be flipped to provide a narrower track width, with more of the wheel being hidden under your board.
If you thought the Caguama was big and niche, Orangatang have outdone it big time with the Dad Bod. You will struggle to get them on your board without wheelbite... But if you're looking to turn your board into a super plush all-conquering monster truck, look no further. The struggle will be worth it when one push takes you all the way to work.
And don't forget the risers!!
All wheels sold in packs of four.
