The Carver 31" Lost Rad Ripper surfskate deck. We love these ...Lost surfskates here at Vandem.
Fully 80s with rainbow rails and classic logos.
This is the C7 version - your first decision when looking at a surfskate is which trucks you'd like. If you're not sure, check out our guide to CX vs C7 trucks here.
What makes this one really stand out from the majority of surfskates out there is the lovely rockered deck.
Just like your concave is surrounding your feet, toe to heel, the rocker adds an extra dimension of comfort and confidence in your foot positioning. Like a hug for your feet.
And on a surfskate where you're putting so much force through them as you build speed and make turns, it feels just awesome to have that extra feedback and to know that your front foot especially is in the right spot to crank the trucks over - just like they're designed to be.
31" long is bang in the middle for a surfskate in our experience - long enough to pick up some speed and handle some power, short enough to whip it round tight in a transition.
The wheelbase is 17.5" on this one which is perhaps slightly on the longer side - we like that too. You can get away with a few inches shorter but it becomes super turny, which is great if that's what you're looking for. But if you want something more versatile that also feels good once you've taken a few pushes to get up to speed, then this is a sweet spot.
10.5" is pretty wide, but it doesn't hold that width throughout the board so don't worry, you don't need big feet to make it work!
Proper griptape which we always like to see on a surfskate - combined with that rocker, your feet aren't going anywhere. At least, nowhere they shouldn't be.
As with the other ...Lost boards in the Carver lineup, these are inspired directly by Matt Biolos and ...Lost surfboards. I've surfed one of these from junky Cornish beachies to delicious Moroccan pointbreaks and... they work! The surfskate edition is no exception. A great little rockered surfskate.
