Landyachtz Stratus 46"

Landyachtz Stratus 46"

Fancy a dance? You've landed in the right place! The Landyachtz Stratus has risen quickly in popularity since its inception, offering a big 46" platform for all types of footwork in a dependable maple construction.

What is a Landyachtz Stratus?

The Stratus is a symmetrical 46" x 9.25" board geared towards dancing and freestyle riding. It features nose and tail kicks, mellow concave and an 8-ply maple construction with a medium flex.

What's the difference between a Stratus and a Tony Danza?

The Landyachtz Tony Danza shares the same graphic and aesthetic as the Stratus, but is a more compact version. At 40" long and 8.5" wide it has less weight than a Stratus but also less standing platform.

The Stratus would be the classic choice for many people looking to dance - cross-stepping and pirouetting are really comfortable on the longer board. However, the Tony Danza is a great option for those smaller in stature to get a similar feeling, or for more aggressive freestyle riders who want the board to hop, flip and jump faster and with less effort.

Is the Landyachtz Stratus good for beginners?

Thanks to its long wheelbase (27.5" - 29.5") the Landyachtz Stratus is a very stable platform for beginners to learn on. However, it is also a board designed for the particular niche of dancing and freestyle - a beginner who isn't necessarily concerned about learning to dance would be better off finding a smaller/more versatile board to really sample everything that longboarding has to offer.

If you are just getting into longboarding and know that you want to learn freestyle tricks and dancing, the Stratus (or the Tony Danza if you're a bit smaller) is a great choice that will stay with you for a long time into your longboarding journey.

Are all Landyachtz Stratus the same?

There are two different constructions of the Stratus: standard and Hollowtech.

Standard construction: 8-ply Canadian maple
Hollowtech: 8-ply Canadian maple with hollow pockets, in a fibreglass sandwich

The Hollowtech is lighter and will therefore be more responsive in many freestyle tricks. However, the durability is also less than that of the standard construction - if you plan to throw the board and jump a lot, the standard construction will last a lot longer. If you're light-footed and look after your gear, the Hollowtech is about as fancy as it gets in longboard construction!

There are also currently two different graphic options available - the Watercolour and the Spectrum.

Are there any alternatives to a Landyachtz Stratus?

The Stratus is a great dance and freestyle option from one of the most respected longboard brands in the world. That's not to say that there aren't equivalent boards out there that might suit you better! Here are the ones worth a look:
