Behond, the Axolotl. These amphibian creatures may not have been known for their freestyle ability back when the Aztecs ate them... but Timber Boards have gone ahead and changed that. It's one of the leanest, meanest, cleanest freestyle and dancing boards on the market.
The Axolotl is 41" long, 9.2" wide - dimensions that put it firmly in the freestyle bracket. But they don't tell half the story!
Timber have been playing with constructions for a while now in a way that very few other manufacturers are able to - they've tested the details all the way down to carbon sheets, vs stringers, vs fibreglass to find out what gives the best pop, the best longevity and all for the lowest weight possible. All this testing comes together in the Axolotl, one of the snappiest, lightest dancing boards on the market at only 1.7kg.
Wheelbase options, an ergonomic concave design that runs all the way up past the bolts, reinforced kicktails all play their part to make this board feel like nothing you've had your feet on until now.
As for the complete, we build this one up in two variants: Pro and Elite. These are replicated across our range of dancing and freestyle boards for good reason - they feel amazing to skate! Smaller wheels accelerate faster off of just a few pushes and are light and nimble, perfectly complimenting the board itself. Sabre trucks finish off the package: super fun, surfy and customisable to your hearts content.
Timbers own "dancer grip" on top should be enough for most riding as it comes, but do feel free to add griptape to the rails or tails if you feel like you want that extra security.
We were super impressed to see these in the flesh and have done our best to capture all the finer details of the design and construction in our photographs. Maybe its got to be seen to be believed but trust us, if you step on one, you'll feel the difference.
Great work, Tim.
