Have a few Lush Longboards (Kilima's) in the family so when I heard my young nephew was looking to get into skateboarding it was an easy decision on which brand to go for. Vandem Longboard Shop have good stock, were great in changing out the bushings to softer ones, good communication by email and the delivery went really fast. Really recommend these guys. Buying quality can cost a bit more than cheaper boards that can be found elsewhere online but its worth it in so many ways! Board bought; LUSH FUEL MINI CRUISER :-) Thanks!

Lush Fuel Mini Cruiser - Boat

The Lush Longboards Fuel is a little board with big ideas.

At 28.5"x8", it's spot on for kids, smaller adults, or those looking for ultra-portability.

Lush have specced this board with a flat nose, which gives a little more space for your feet -  a little easier to skate for beginners.

The Fuel also features a slightly longer wheelbase than most boards this size, which makes it a little bit more forgiving to skate than most other mini-cruisers and kids boards.

A mellow concave is super-comfortable over distance, and a proper skateboard kicktail makes the Fuel fully ollieable.

Lush Fuel Mini Cruiser - Boat: Elite Complete Spec

The Elite Complete is a premium minicruiser, featuring Sabre Built-In Labyrinth Bearings for a fast-rolling, maintenance-free ride, and legendary 65mm Cult Chronicle wheels. The slightly larger 65mm diameter of these wheels gives the Fuel Elite build an unmatched rollover, really increasing its ability to deal with rougher roads and making it a lot more comfortable over any kind of distance. The whole thing turns on Sabre Street Trucks at 127mm, specced out with Sabre's aftermarket bushings.

Lush Fuel Mini Cruiser - Boat: Pro Complete Spec

The Pro Complete is a super-good value, slightly cheaper build, with 60mm Cult Nova wheels and Vandem Value ABEC 5 bearings. Still turning on Sabre 127mm trucks though, which is the bit that really matters.

Is the Elite setup worth the extra £60.05?

For only an extra £60.05, you can upgrade the "Pro" setup to the "Elite" Level build.

The Elite setup is a pretty heavy wheel and bearing upgrade over the Pro.

You get Sabre Built-In Labyrinth Bearings - fully shielded, easy to clean, with built in bearing spacers. They roll faster and last longer than the Pro level metal shielded ABEC5 bearings.

The Elite complete also includes Cult Chronicle 65mm Longboard Wheels White (Stoneground), poured from a higher grade urethane. Premium urethane rolls fater, lasts longer, and generally injects a whole new level of life into the board - once you've skated decent wheels, you won't want anything else!

//vandemlongboardshop.co.uk/cdn/shop/products/Sabre-Built-In-Labyrinth-Bearings-2.jpg?v=1679414662

Less obvious is the wheel upgrade. Your extra £60.05 gets you a set of Cult Chronicle over the Pro build's Cult Nova. Apart from the obvious size difference, the Cult Chronicle are poured from a higher grade of urethane - an invisible difference that you will immediately notice as soon as you push the board off.

Just like the bearings, the wheel upgrade makes your board roll faster and last longer - what's not to like??

If you look at the SRP difference of these components and add them together you'll see that the upgrade from Pro to Elite represents serious value - trust us, it's well worth it.

Coupled with this, we've noticed that almost everyone who makes it into our shop ends up with an Elite setup - the value is clear once you have the board in your hands!

Some other things to consider...

  • If in doubt - go softer! Turnier boards are easier to balance on, and a lot more fun to skate.
  • If you are "between hardnesses," we would recommend the softer option. So for example, for a 73kg rider, "Soft" rather than "Stock Setup" might be a better choice. Get in touch if you're not sure!
  • if you want a very turny board - say for a dancing longboard - then it's worth going one stop softer than you otherwise would do. Watch out for wheelbite though!
  • Likewise, if you want a board for downhill speed, then go up a step harder than the weight table suggests.
  • You do have a bit of adjustment in the truck's kingpin nut, but we would suggest that if you have more than two threads showing then it's time to go to a harder bushing.
  • If you already have a board (or some trucks!) and you would like to change your bushings to suit your weight, check out our truck/bushing compatability chart!

Cruiser board

A lot of what I want to say is not specific to this board, so if you're just looking a product review, here's what I've got: the Fuel is 28.5 inches long, 8 inches wide, has a wheelbase of 15.5 inches. That means it pretty much the same dimensions as a Landyachtz Dinghy. The quality of the build and the components is, as far as I'm aware, pretty much the same as a Dinghy. Thanks to judicious use of a discount code in an already very generous Vandem sale, I got it for basically half what I'd have paid for a Dinghy, which made it a very easy decision. More generally though, when I decided I wanted to get back into skating after many years away, I spent a lot of time trying to work out whether to buy a longboard or a cruiser board. Based on a lot of reviews, articles and videos online, I brought a longboard (you can find my review of it elsewhere). Three weeks later, I brought this cruiser board. So did I make a mistake? Should I just have brought the cruiser (it would have been a lot cheaper)? For me, no - getting back on the longboard I quickly knew how excited I was to skate more and progress, and being in the fortunate position of being able to start a quiver of boards early, I'm extremely glad to have both. However, it has afforded me an interesting perspective on the merits of a longboard vs a cruiser for a new or returning skater. The consensus tends to be that the choice should be a longboard because they're: - Easier to push - Easier to ride - Comfortable with bigger hills and longer distances The thing is, all these things are true. However, the Fuel (and presumably any good quality cruiser) is by no means difficult to push, or to ride. The longboard definitely will be better for bigger hills and longer distances, just now I'm neither good nor confident enough to ride them. On the other hand, because the Fuel is smaller, it's easier to take with me speculatively, or to spots which require a lot of walking before there's a chance for skating. Tl;dr: If you're trying to choose between a longboard and a cruiser, don't be put off from choosing a cruiser if you feel like it will be a better option. And the Fuel, and I suspect also the Nomad, are definitely cruisers worth consideration.
