Powell Peralta Old School Ripper Reissue

Arguably the most iconic skateboard graphic of all time, "The Ripper" was illustrated in 1983 by legendary Powell-Peralta artist V.C. Johnson. Originally the graphic was used as a "Bones Sold Here" dealer window sticker. Next, the artwork found it's way onto t-shirts and eventually decks. The Ripper graphic has stood the test of time and has been a staple of the Powell-Peralta line for over 30 years.

This awesome old shape is one to look at if you want an old-school setup but don't want to compromise on having a nose. Having that kick on the nose does make it a slightly more functional board if you want to do tricks - from coming in off the coping at your local skatepark, to levelling out your ollies, to simple things round town like lifting your back wheels up as you get up onto curbs.

It's a banger and its gripped and ready to shreddy, by us here in the shop. If you want the logo visible with a break in the griptape let us know - be creative and we'll see what we can do for you. If you're local and can bring biscuits, theres no end to the awesome griptape designs we are willing to bring into existence!

Made with Powell Peralta's partner in Mexico. Materials include U.S. hard rock maple and glue that meets their specifications, warranted against delamination for their useful life. Shape and graphics created in Santa Barbara, CA.

We build this one up in three different styles of complete - Pro, Elite and Park. If you're taking this to the skatepark, grab the Park setup. The hard wheels will be your friend there: fast, smooth and forgiving. If you're skating round town from A to B or hitting up crustier spots, the Pro and Elite setups come with softer wheels and transform a badass reissue skateboard into a super juiced up cruiser board that will turn heads wherever you go.

Is the Elite setup worth the extra £30?

For only an extra £30, you can upgrade the "Pro" setup to the "Elite" Level build.

The Elite setup is a pretty heavy wheel and bearing upgrade over the Pro.

You get Sabre Built-In Labyrinth Bearings - fully shielded, easy to clean, with built in bearing spacers. They roll faster and last longer than the Pro level metal shielded ABEC5 bearings.

The Elite complete also includes Cult Chronicle 65mm Longboard Wheels White (Stoneground), poured from a higher grade urethane. Premium urethane rolls fater, lasts longer, and generally injects a whole new level of life into the board - once you've skated decent wheels, you won't want anything else!

Less obvious is the wheel upgrade. Your extra £30 gets you a set of Cult Chronicle over the Pro build's Cult Nova. Apart from the obvious size difference, the Cult Chronicle are poured from a higher grade of urethane - an invisible difference that you will immediately notice as soon as you push the board off.

Just like the bearings, the wheel upgrade makes your board roll faster and last longer - what's not to like??

If you look at the SRP difference of these components and add them together you'll see that the upgrade from Pro to Elite represents serious value - trust us, it's well worth it.

Coupled with this, we've noticed that almost everyone who makes it into our shop ends up with an Elite setup - the value is clear once you have the board in your hands!

Powell Peralta Old School Ripper Reissue: Park Complete Spec

This is your setup if you want to shred this Powell reissue in the skatepark and the bowl but aren't too worried about getting from A to B on it. Proper hard wheels at 101a that just don't stop rolling! Really functional and turny Sabre trucks will get you slashing in no time, and if you're going to be sliding a lot, it could be worth adding some rails, too.

Powell Peralta Old School Ripper Reissue: Elite Complete Spec

This is a premium cruising setup that'll last years to come. 65mm Chronicles roll smoothly over cracks and pebbles whilst being small enough to accelerate fast and get off the ground. They slide great, too.

Powell Peralta Old School Ripper Reissue: Pro Complete Spec

Slightly smaller wheels will be easier to take to the air and roll best when the path is smooth and flowing in front of you. This setup is the best value you'll find anywhere for such a badass cruiser!

Customise your ride!

We can change the truck bushings on this board to suit your weight and riding style!

This way your board will come set up perfectly for you, straight out of the box.

Just refer to the table below and make your choice as you add to cart!

Rider weightBushing Hardness

72 - 90kgsStock Setup
90 - 104kgsHarder
104 - 120kgsExtra Hard
Skateboard Bushings

Some other things to consider...

  • If in doubt - go softer! Turnier boards are easier to balance on, and a lot more fun to skate.
  • If you are "between hardnesses," we would recommend the softer option. So for example, for a 73kg rider, "Soft" rather than "Stock Setup" might be a better choice. Get in touch if you're not sure!
  • if you want a very turny board - say for a dancing longboard - then it's worth going one stop softer than you otherwise would do. Watch out for wheelbite though!
  • Likewise, if you want a board for downhill speed, then go up a step harder than the weight table suggests.
  • You do have a bit of adjustment in the truck's kingpin nut, but we would suggest that if you have more than two threads showing then it's time to go to a harder bushing.
