No swallowtails here!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAt 32\" this does sound like one of the bigger \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/vandemlongboardshop.co.uk\/collections\/surf-skates\"\u003esurfskate\u003c\/a\u003e boards at first glance but it's not quite that simple - the wheelbase is actually one of the shorter available at just over 15.625\" so it will be more agile - and less stable - than boards that are shorter such as the 30\" \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/vandemlongboardshop.co.uk\/products\/carver-30-emerald-peak-c7-surfskate\" title=\"Carver Emerald Peak Surfskate\"\u003eEmerald Peak\u003c\/a\u003e or 31\" \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/vandemlongboardshop.co.uk\/products\/carver-31-triton-signal-cx-surfskate\" title='Carver 31\" Triton Signal Surfskate'\u003eTriton\u003c\/a\u003e. The reason is the big skateboard nose hanging over the front truck.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA nose on a surfskate, is that a good idea? Well, perhaps not if you had a C7 setup. But this complete features the C5 system which is more stable, lower to the ground and narrower than the others, meaning you can even ollie this board without fear of landing off centre and rolling your ankle on the mad lean!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe C5 system is not covered in our review of the \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/vandemlongboardshop.co.uk\/blogs\/vandem-longboard-shop-news\/surfskate-truck-review-carver-c7-cx-landyachtz\"\u003eC7 vs CX vs Landyachtz\u003c\/a\u003e trucks, but we'd say it sits somewhere between the CX and the \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/vandemlongboardshop.co.uk\/collections\/landyachtz\"\u003eLandyachtz\u003c\/a\u003e in terms of pumpability and stability.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA great option for anyone looking for a surfskate that goes well in the skatepark. The wheels are 95A - much harder than your average cruiser wheel, and will perform best on the smooth concrete of a park or on really good asphalt. But what makes it so suitable for the young guns?\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eThe bushings: \u003c\/strong\u003eSmall but mighty, these little urethane doughnuts make more difference to a skateboard than one would expect. Normally, it's the little ones that suffer most when a standard skateboard (\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/vandemlongboardshop.co.uk\/collections\/cruiser-skateboards\" title=\"Cruisers\"\u003ecruiser\u003c\/a\u003e, \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/vandemlongboardshop.co.uk\/collections\/surf-skates\" title=\"Surfskates\"\u003esurfskate\u003c\/a\u003e or \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/vandemlongboardshop.co.uk\/collections\/longboards\" title=\"Longboards\"\u003elongboard\u003c\/a\u003e) is purchased - they won't be able to turn at all with a \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/vandemlongboardshop.co.uk\/pages\/truck-bushings\" title=\"Bushing Set up\"\u003ebushing set up\u003c\/a\u003e designed for adults. And turning is the fun part - especially with a surfskate!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCarver have come up with the goods on these Mini Series boards though, and swapped the bushings out for something much softer than standard. Softer bushings mean less resistance when leaning, for lower effort smoother carves for those who are yet to have a growth spurt.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe 27\" Zapper Snapper features 84A bushings - standard Carver setups come with 90As. The lower the number, the lower the resistance.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eCarver C5 trucks:\u003c\/strong\u003e The C5 feels very similar to the CX - the most popular surfskate truck system out there - but has a lower ride height. Always a good thing for stability and ease of pushing, it's makes even more difference for people with little legs. The C5 truck will be much more manageable for kids, and the lower ride height also makes it much easier for those wanting to learn some skate tricks along the way, be it the basics, ollies or kickflips and beyond.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHollow kingpins and axles further lower the weight of the trucks to make it a pleasure for kids to skate around.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e60mm wheels:\u003c\/strong\u003e Slightly smaller than you'd find on most adult surfskates which tend to feature wheels between 65mm and 75mm. It's a small difference but reinforces all of the good bits above - the ride height and the weight are both reduced to make it as easy as possible for kids to get carving.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eBright graphics:\u003c\/strong\u003e This one split opinions in the shop, but then, don't all the best graphics do that? With the printed griptape lightning bolt this one really stands out. It's not a bad place-marker for the important front foot, either.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis board is built with standard 7-ply maple - forgoing the weight saving of the smaller options in favour of something that can stay relevant for many years to come, and even let mum and dad have a go... if you're allowed!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCarver know what they're doing when it comes to designing surfskates, and it's easy to see that they've properly thought about what would make them the most fun for kids to learn and shred on. The extra length also allows for the wheelbase to be up at 15.625\" - super comfy for surfskate trucks.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEquipped with \u003ca title=\"Carver C5 trucks\" href=\"https:\/\/vandemlongboardshop.co.uk\/products\/carver-5-75-c5-c4-surfskate-trucks\"\u003eCarver's C5 truck system\u003c\/a\u003e - that's a C5 up front and a C4 in the back. The C5s are lower in ride height and narrower than its classic surf brothers. Your wheels stay firmly under your deck, you have a lower centre of gravity and the angle at which the tail hits the floor is in that sweet spot for good pop and balance in manuals.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhen compared to the \u003ca title=\"Carver C7 trucks\" href=\"https:\/\/vandemlongboardshop.co.uk\/products\/carver-6-5-c7-c2-surfskate-trucks\"\u003eC7\u003c\/a\u003e or \u003ca title=\"Carver CX trucks\" href=\"https:\/\/vandemlongboardshop.co.uk\/products\/carver-6-5-cx-c2-surfskate-trucks\"\u003eCX\u003c\/a\u003e, they offer easier, higher ollies and great control in the skatepark.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAnd that is really what it's designed for - with the 95A Carver Black Park wheels, it won't be as smooth across town as other surfskates but it makes up for it when you get onto some smooth concrete. In the park the wheels are fast, grippy and will lock into grinds on the coping no problem.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf you're the kind of rider who wants to blend surf-style flow with technical park tricks, the Omni's got your name written all over it. Flowy carves, snappy ollies, grinds, slides... You can be playful with your foot positioning and really drive it from the front, pick up speed and yet still lay into hard carves.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBuilt on the classic \u003ca title=\"Carver C7 trucks\" href=\"https:\/\/vandemlongboardshop.co.uk\/products\/carver-6-5-c7-c2-surfskate-trucks\"\u003eCarver C7 trucks\u003c\/a\u003e you can't really go wrong - they are the original surfskate truck and still trusted by many as the best.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFinished off with Arbor Easyrider wheels in 65mm 78A and with spray-on griptape.
