This is the grippiest duro that Orangatang pour, it's a fast, high-end US poured urethane so roll speed isn't a problem either. This has a slightly faster roll speed (although to be honest the Orange is planty fast for most people), at the expense of grip and a slightly harsher feeling ride. A lot of downhill wheels have bigger cores these days, and in many ways the older Orangatang grip wheels are no longer really competitive.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Kegel is an interesting wheel for downhill. Orangatang fans will know that their \"Happy\" urethane is fast, dumpy, and not all that grippy, especially once it's broken in. The Kegel is probably the grippiest of all of \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/vandemlongboardshop.co.uk\/collections\/orangatang-wheels\"\u003eOrangatang's wheels\u003c\/a\u003e, with sharp lips and a super-supportive core - but these days it's out-gripped by smaller, wider big-cored downhill wheels from other brands.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHowever, the Kegel does have a major advantage - diameter. At 80mm this is one of the largest grip wheels available, which means that if the track suits it, it's often the fastest option going.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFor cruising applications, the Kegel is a great choice. Offering faster roll speeds and better rollover than either the 4President or the In Heat, without the crazy weight and wheelbite issues inherent in the 85mm Caguama, the Kegel is a solid performer on any longboard you can fit it on.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Kegel is available in three duros:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e77A (Blue) - this is the grippiest wheel Orangatang make. It gets close to Caguama and In Heat levels of plushness, and the supporting larger core negates a lot of the disadvantages inherent in such a soft durometer. The Blue gets eaten up quickly whilst sliding though. If you're buying this wheel to cruise, this is the one you want.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e80A (Orange) - a great all-round cruise wheel, also a very good option for very high speed downhill tracks. Longer lasting and faster rolling than the 77A, with slightly better definition in the transition between grip and slip. If you're buying the Kegel to skate downhill, this is probably the one to go for.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e83A (Purple) - awesomely fast on smooth surfaces - if you are lucky enough to have a super smooth, super long downhill run near you, these are killer. For everyone else though, they can be a bit harsh, so we can't recommend them to everyone. The release is a little more \"on\/off\" than the Orange, but this is still a very controllable slide wheel.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e86A (Yellow) - harder, faster, more durable - but the release from grip into a slide isnb't quite as nice as the other two duros, and we usually don't recommend it unless you really like a more technical slide wheel. The size.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBigger wheels roll faster than smaller wheels, especially over rough surfaces - but they're also heavier and the urethane flexes more, which makes them less controllable in a slide. At 73mm, the Cage is bordering on a little bit too big for it's intended use, in our opinion, certainly at the speeds you will encounter in the UK. If you're going to the Alps or somewhere, then the Cage would be a great choice - more comfortable at speed than its smaller brothers, a more \"planted\" feeling from the wider contact patch, and more urethane will last you longer.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Cage is also a better cruiser wheel than the Keanu and Kilmer, although most longboard cruiser setups suit a grippier wheel than this (perhaps an In Heat or a 4President). If you wanted a solid all-round longboard wheel with a bit less grip, then the Cage could be the one for you though.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Cage is available in three duros:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e80A (Orange) - this is the best - and possibly only - duro of this wheel really worth considering. A great faster freeride wheel, with a modicum of braking power, the release is smooth, it lasts for ages, and is a lot of fun if you have a hill long enough. Also a great longboard cruising wheel, probably faster than the cheaper wheels that your complete came stock with.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e83A (Purple) - a harder wheel to like and enjoy, really... we can see that this might be awesome on butter-smooth Californian surfaces, but here in the UK it's a bit harsh and the transition between grip and slip can be a bit sudden. They are fast though, and more durable than the 80A. If you are a heavier slider and you like bigger wheels, this could be the one for you.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e86A (Yellow) - we don't know what Orangatang were thinking here, really... this is very hard for a wheel of this diameter and intended use, and it's a bit wide and tall for a technical slide wheel. Super fast, really long-lasting and really slidey... we can get them if you want!\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs you can probably tell, the Cage isn't our favorite wheel in the \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/vandemlongboardshop.co.uk\/collections\/orangatang-wheels\"\u003eOrangatang Wheels lineup.\u003c\/a\u003e If you are looking to slide, we'd recommend the smaller Kilmer or Keanu instead. Enough for your whole skateboard, which makes life easier.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSo which should you get - Knuckles, or Nipples?\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLet's look at the obvious differences.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNipples come with Flat Washers - Knuckles come with Cup Washers. This means the Knuckles have more \"bounce\" - a higher return to centre. Better for carving and cruising around, whilst the Nipples on flat washers might be better for a bit of speed and a \"dead\" feeling truck.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe have to say though - the cup washers that come with the Knuckles are not a very good fit on the bushing, so there will be a fair bit of slop in your truck.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA pack of Nipples consists of four barrel bushings. They're pretty wide as bushings go - so there's a good bit of stability there.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA pack of Knuckles comes with two barrel bushings with inserts that lock into your truck seats - they go on the boardside. Then for the roadside bushings you get a \"Gumdrop\" shape - which is a sort of rounded cone. Knuckles bushing are a bit narrower than most, which means more lean and turn.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe insert on the Knuckles helps a bit with the slop, but it also restricts the lean a little bit compared to the flat-topped Nipples. Orangatang's new Blue 77A isn't the fastest, but it's really given this wheel a new lease of life. At 77A the In Heat gives a crazy smooth ride and has enough grip for most things. Definitely a good shout if you want the feeling of a Caguama but you can't fit 85mm of wheel on your board.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e80A (Orange). The timeless classic grip wheel, now it's a slightly faster alternative big cruiser wheel to the Blue 77A. Maybe better if you're a heavier skater.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e83A (Purple). At the harder duro the In Heat has a good bit of support and rolls relatively quickly, but it's still not a great choice for rougher surfaces. 4President is a perfect \"medium\" sized longboard wheel for a lot of setups - fast enough to roll over the rougher stuff, and small and light enough to chuck around and not worry about wheelbite too much.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"font-weight: 400;\" data-mce-style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003eThere are three duros available:\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e77A (Blue). This is a bit slower than the other two duros and won't last as long for sliding, but it is super plush and very grippy.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e80A (Orange). If you had to push us to pick a favourite we'd probably go with this one, we think the medium duro brings out the best in the wheel shape.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e83A (Purple). The fastest rolling of the three duros, it's also longer lasting and less grippy. Maybe a bit harsh for really rough surfaces, but still a great wheel for cruising about, especially if you are mostly inhabiting smooth roads and pavements.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLike a lot of Orangatang grip wheels, (which we would consider to be the 4President, \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/vandemlongboardshop.co.uk\/products\/orangatang-in-heat-wheels-75mm\"\u003eIn Heat\u003c\/a\u003e and \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/vandemlongboardshop.co.uk\/products\/orangatang-kegel-wheels-80mm\"\u003eKegel\u003c\/a\u003e) those sharp lips don't last very long and the urethane isn't the grippiest out there - but these wheels are a hell of a lot of fun once you've broken them in. The geometry and shape of the wheel is very balanced even now, over a decade after they came out.
